Monsieur Happy

Public project

A blue-and-pink cat face with three yellow eyes, centered against torn layers of cream, blue, ochre, and faded red paper.

The visitor-following view uses the application's synthetic visitor simulator, with no webcam imagery. The greeting is sample text.

Monsieur Happy is an animated art installation inspired by street art, created for a wall screen at my office. Fifteen characters blink, glance around, and perform playful routines, including an Amini & Conant lettering reveal, against twenty-three selectable backgrounds.

Custom greetings welcome visitors and can be managed locally or from a privately paired phone. With optional camera input, characters can notice and follow visitors; person detection runs in the browser. The artwork and local greetings can also run offline.

The source repository is private. Camera use is optional and requires permission. Remote phone control requires a private pairing link.

Built with

  • Cloudflare Workers and D1: hosted delivery, paired phone messaging, and private display diagnostics.
